Work Day, and Bonfire Night

Over recent weeks we’ve become aware of some projects we need to make a move on. There is the growing number of youngsters on Sunday mornings which means we are no longer meeting the need with our creche facilities. Then there is the need to store the extra chairs we use now as well, but above all, there is the annual Guy Fawkes/Church Anniversary bonfire to build.

The photo shows the guys from E.J.Shanleys delivering seven tons of clean wood which they donated for the task today, which on Saturday Oct. 13th we are going to start knocking into shape for a monster bonfire. Various people have already said they’re coming along, and we usually get a good turn out, so should be a good day.

For those who don’t know we have had a couple of pretty mad bonfires as you can see here: Bonfires. We’ve built a ship in the past, and a castle, this time I think we’ll build a…..that’d be telling. Here’s a montage from the castle burning in 2010.

The Bonfire will be lit on November 3rd around 7:30, there’ll be food (BBQ), fireworks, activities for kids, no charge, donations only, but you’ll have to put up with me talking about God’s goodness for a few minutes, so if you can bear that, come along it’s usually a really good night.
