1 Thessalonians – Expecting Jesus

Thessalonica was a fast growing and influential city. The Romans administered the region of Macedonia from there, it had good communications and was of strategic importance. What makes it so important to us is that a Church was begun there during a one week stay by Paul as recorded in Acts 17, and a couple of months later, he wrote two letters to the group from Corinth. These letters give us a unique snapshot of life in a young Church, full of new believers, working it out in a time of frenzied persecution.

The letter is full of vital counsel to those who find themselves feeling inadequately equipped to face what appear to be insurmountable problems, who conclude that only the second coming of Jesus can help them win the prize.
